The Azerbaijani troops were attempting to advance in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh on October 1 when they fell in the ambush that was set by local Armenian forces. The commander of the Armenian unit responsible for the deadly ambush said 60-62 Azerbaijani soldiers were killed. The soldiers were eliminated by local reconnaissance and artillery units from a close distance. The ambush lasted for a few minutes only.
