4 years ago all of these companies were wetting themselves over how remote work increased productivity and how it was here to stay.
I remember posting somewhere this wouldn't last, be ready. Got poo-poo'd. Now they get boo-hoo'd.
Yeah, They saw increased productivity but then the local governments that were making tax dollars off the companies forcing people into parts of cities they didn't want to be in the first place resulting in them fucking with property values and spending money at shitty coffee shops and crap fast food joints every day.
The gov said "Hey, we are taking away your tax breaks if you don't get foot traffic back up in the downtown". The companies said "ok, fuck the workers, get back into the office".
