People are always working overtime because the company refuses to staff enough people for the job and people are willing to put up with it. We have seen absolute massive amounts of productivity increase while quality of life keeps going down and the pay does not scale to the output of work.

Then again, I work in a "Exempt" field which is complete bullshit as it is.
