Agreed. Not only that, it is often the only way to get paid better. It really pisses off your employees when you hire someone new for the exact position you are doing but pay them 30% more.

I had two job changes recently and ended up making 20k more a year. It isn't life changing money or anything (I just save it anyways), but is a decent chunk of change in Ohio.

In my line, why would I stay somewhere for years doing the same thing in sustainment? I'd rather hop and get to work on something new and cutting edge for a bit.. then move on again. It's a gamble but at the end of the day, I'm in it for me.

When you don't promote from within or give raises, you will have lower employee retention. This is not rocket science. Maybe business majors should have to take some kind of basic logic class to graduate.
