Already serviced the machines and equipment, reorganized the pole barn. Cold day, heated cab in the skid steer… maybe moved half the pile in 8 hours. I don’t know how many yards, all I know is life in the shadow of a mountain of compost.

How's it smell?

Not bad at all. It’s all from the maintenance crew trimming and cleaning up lawns. Good clean earthy compost.

That sounds pleasant.

Earthy decay over rotten veggies any day.

Made me cold just looking at it. I love the smell of earth.

I should’ve got a picture of the steam coming out. Loosen that stuff up and it’s a full minute before you can see it again.

Sounds like you need a bigger machine. Did you achieve some zen?

Probably should’ve gone a little slower. Stretch out the work. I dunno about zen, but I definitely achieved some earth moving. I’m sure the guys up in the office thought I was having a blast, but I feel like I was a demolition derby. It’ll probably be more fun on Monday when the end is in sight.

Holy god, this brings back memories. I was in basic at Lakeland AFB, got caught coming back to base at 0200 with two thai women, got busted, 4 weeks extra basic and I had to paint the rocks in the captains drive, I painted them. Sgt comes by and asks "Did you paint the bottoms?" I had to take the rocks OUT of the ground wash them and paint them, when dry I had to "plant them again so they look pretty!"

As a masonry man I cannot upvote your comment. You can paint block all you want, but painting rocks… for shame.
