Last post I made to this sub I requested advice on oils and finishes, here's what I've tinkered with this last week.

First two pics are a couple of rings I sanded down and burned pre-finish.

Next three pics are post-finish. The top, wider ring was soaked in extra-virgin olive oil for a week in a ziploc baggie on my windowsill. The bottom, thinner ring was treated with Howard's Beeswax & Orange Oil for half an hour today. I'd like to try tung oil soon when I have a little extra money to do so, but it's not a priority.

I'm more satisfied with how the beeswax turned out. This was African Ipe wood that I worked with, which is already a darker wood anyway, and the olive oil made it considerably darker (which could be chalked up to the time the piece soaked, I've considered...too late lol). The beeswax darkened the wood a little bit, but you can still see the designs I burned into the piece. Can barely read the writing inside either one, maybe I'll just have to use that design on lighter woods.

The last pic shows other designs I've worked on recently. Now that I have a new drill bit, I plan to drill through the top of each piece so they can be strung. I may use my Dremel to carve out the excess wood around the shapes I drew rather than leave the oval-shapes before I finish them (not the Celtic knot piece).

The woodworking is cool.

My question, why is your thumb nail painted yellow?

Because I wanted to paint it yellow after the pink chipped off
