I read that Tung oil was a good finisher, but I'm looking for a good finish if not that one, and the best process to treat said wood. This is African Ipe, if that matters.

And no, I'm not done sanding.

Edit: I want to put a design on this too, I was thinking I would use the woodburner.

I’m a big fan of tung, real tung, not that Home Depot stuff. Real milk paint co sells good stuff. Takes time to fully harden, but then it’s soaked in and the wood is incredibly durable, also easily touched up in the future if it does wear. Does add a little yellow tinge, but all the clear poly alternatives seem to wear off and not soak in and stabilize the wood as well, linseed is ok, but in humid conditions I e had it mold after dry.I use tung on door thresholds of oak to cutting boards.

How long to soak, like a week?

Add solvent per recommendation from instructions, overnight in a ziplock is fine. Wipe dry, twice a day for a couple days after. Llet it sit somewhere warm for a month, people do this process to stabilize wooden block planes and they become much better at fine shaving. Just be patient.
