It's the kind of vase that will sit up on a shelf somewhere as an art piece, so it's pretty unlikely it's going to get kicked around.. But, yeah, maple burl is very hard to top in terms of beauty. The word you're looking for is chatoyance, which I saw a couple spots in this piece would make that effect, but he didn't rotate the vase at all to show that.
