Clearly it is on the rise among these researchers because denying someone's identity or lived experience as an attack helicopter or really anything, is fascism.
Transgenderism is the belief that someone can be born with an immaterial soul/mind /energy that is different from the evident reality of their body. A woman soul and male body or a man soul and female body are the most common types claimed but as this is an unfalsifiable and subjective state, there is really no reason someone cannot have the soul of a helicopter, cat, lizard or lizard person, celestial body etc. To explain why someone cannot be trans-aircraft one would need to explain what the restrictions are and why someone can be moon or cat-gender but not a helicopter or jet. Or perhaps these fascist researchers believe you can't be trans-anything non-human, (which is speciesism) or trans-racial (which is racist) but they clearly won't explain which kind of trans is acceptable in their fascist worldview because they are cowards.
