I am not sure if this will answer your actual question, but look up Squanto, he had a very interesting life story.
Native Americans are an interesting bunch. We don't know a lot about what they did before first contact, because many of them were foolish enough to die of smallpox in the years immediately after Columbus arrived in Hispanola. But they inhabited two continents, and were widely varied in behavior.
The Aztecs were absolute savages, who built an advanced society based off of routine and brutal ritual human sacrifice.
Now compare that to the lovely and ingenious Inuits or Eskimos who inhabited all of Northern Canada, Alaska, and Greenland. I can't help but have respect for a people who figured out how to hunt whales from kayaks built of elk-bone and leather, all the while living inside of literal snow.
The reality is that most Native Americans were somewhere between noble and savage. If I were to rank the races, they would be below the Whites and Japanese, just slightly above Croatians.
I looked up Squanto and it really is interesting. It looks like they had 2 types on communities, settled ones that were somewhat civilized, and nomadic ones that probably were violent and savage, constantly raiding settlers of any kind. These are probably the ones Natives are mainly associated with and I'd say it isn't fair since they were causing grief for everyone while settled tribes often traded and cooperated with Whites.
Croats are not a race, we are a highly advanced species that periodically shares our techniques with lower creatures just for lolz and to see what will happen.
