That's pretty neat. Current protocol is using a special tool to freeze the water upstream to open the line

That is useful. Not only does it prevent you from having to cut the water to your entire house to repair one thing, you don’t even need to shut off the water to install it.

Yeah, pretty cool product. I’ve used them before in hospitals when I wasn’t able to isolate a system due to essential equipment (not this exact product but one like it, same principle).

Seems great if you have a leak and can't get the main off. Calling a plumber would be expensive and they would still take longer. Only problem is you'd need to buy one of these in advance, at $300+. For landlords or people who manage multiple places then cost gets divided out since you only need one on hand for emergencies.

That would have saved an old job i was on alot of trouble. There was a three inch copper water main in the Falcons Dome and it was a live line that needed something added to it that wasnt installed with the rest of it. they cut into the copper pipe unsure if it was live, and sure enough, it was. It flooded a good portion of the building before they could shut off the main. Costed the contractor alot of money to fix all the new, almost finished building

Did you know this is the creation of negro inventer, Dr. Jame’el Washington?

One of the infinite black creations Wypipo take credit for.

After a particularly vigorous bout of shuckin' and jivin' Jame'el realized "Ayo, damn, muh dick keep leakin." And thus the valve was born.
