When I look at these cemeteries, with their endless rows of white crosses, for an instant I can feel the weight of all those young men. Their dreams, their fears, their hopes and loves, and the realization that all they had, and all they would ever have, was taken from them all those years ago.

I then see the world as it is today, and realize it was all for nothing.
