For an artist, I'm not saying it's a shame to copy something since you train by copying, but... Making somebody else's style your style and most importantly, claiming it your own... It's shameful, somehow... Like, what are you? Fake? You can't even come up with your very own then again what are you? The world doesn't need a second matisse or whatever, that's bordering on fraud Now I'm talking in the context of original painting, like he does here. In the context of industrial artwork, satirical work, franchise cartoons, and actual copies like you make copies of originals by hand for a living and you sell them as such, it's not deceptive in any way it's just what it is, it's different, it's the applications of the means and techniques of art for a job, for a living, you don't even put your name on it, it's more of a product than actual art. So yeah, a second matisse essentially... Not very glorious to say the least. Needless to mention that I'm not exactly a matisse fan to begin with...
