Very loose connection and Santa is devoid of historical connection. It's like they took European history and tradition and cut off its roots so you only see the tip of the traditions without the historical depth. Most Christmas traditions stem from Nordic Yule with a mix of the legend of Saint Nicholas and mixed them up. I'm not against midwinter festivities but the obsession with Santa Claus is like looking at a transexual version of your historical past.
So what. Santa is a concept that is for children and a gimmick to get mommies and daddies to spend a lot of money on toys. Nothing wrong with letting children be children and believe in santa and goodness. We all grow up and find out the unpleasant truth soon enough. Santa does not remotely conflate to "transexual"; both may be made up but one is not evil and the other is.
