Step 1 (Ireland 20-30 years ago): They're just temporary refugees and guest workers, they'll go home when the crisis is over and things have improved in their own countries. Don't forget all the Irish who immigrated.
Step 2 (Ireland now): Anyone can be Irish, don't be racist. If they live here and adopt the culture they're Irish. This is their home now.
Step 3 (America/Germany): The meaning of being Irish has changed, their customs are a part of Irish culture too and are just as valid as native culture. Don't be racist.
Step 4 (cUcK/Sweden): Being Irish is racist. Irish culture must die.
Step 5 (South Africa): We need to kill the Irish
I remain cautiously hopeful. If the old imperial powers, France is the best hope, decide enough is enough then the trend can change before we even reach stage 3. If the republicans get their way with reunification we also gain nearly a million angry and unwelcoming unionists who certainly can’t be cowed with childish name calling. Whether conservatives in the south can find common ground with the unionists might be a challenge, but I think in a unification scenario the likes of the DUP might be surprised by the support they could enjoy south of the border - over 30% of us voted against both fag marriage and abortion but have no political representation. I don’t really care about the constitutional question of unionism so would support the DUP on policy alone.

France is lost. The yellow vests were brave enough to threaten their own PM with a guillotine and came this close to storming the tuilliers palace. But ultimately their demands come down to "more gibs." They're not even willing to say they want France to become French again. Anyone begging for scraps is a slave and will always be easy to control.

The problem with that is that the Irish mainstream are being very successfully bombarded with "fuck the brits" memes and being taught that cucking to the EU as hard as possible is the way to victory over the unionists. They should be ideal allies but they're not.

Me too, but again I don't think that' reflects the majority. Most young Irish people have been taught to believe that anything bad that ever happened to us came from Britain/Ulster Scots and they're the only enemy we ever need to worry about.
I wouldn’t really mind the yellow vests. They tried but those kind of street protests are relatively easily ignored by those in power. But the 2,000 signatories of the below, and perhaps more importantly the support they seem to enjoy among the French public, could pay dividends if they were to make a move.
