I think Whites are the only humanoids with souls. All the rest universally have those soulless black eyes and the same black hair

Who is to say that any deity is benevolent? They would already have a thought process beyond ours and maybe the suffering caused by these "souls" would be part of the plan.

I do kind of get what /u/StabEm said though. Same as saying there are "good" people and "bad" people.
