Calling it AI from the beginning was disengious. AI doesn't think for itself, it draws on various databases and regurgitates information. Its no more AI than a spell checker/grammar checker. Most people don't comprehend that its not real AI and that's what's contributed to the massive bubble that will pop sooner rather than later
