I know we shit on reddit but /r/keto has wonderful FAQ and how-tos.
It can take up to two weeks to fully transition into ketosis the first time. You'll likely exhibit cold symptoms called "keto flu".
Very helpful to have a bunch of easy meals made up (mealprep) so you don't lapse while charging into ketosis. Must be very strict about your carb limit when entering keto.
You can be hardcore about your "macros" (macronutrient ratios that you need based on body weight & goal) or just figure out approximately what daily caloric deficit you need to establish in your nutrition order to permit the weight you want to lose to be burned off as stored fat for energy.
Coffee is great - black, or you can slip in half & half but no sugary creamer obviously.
First time in, avoid literally anything sweet even if it's artificial sugar. The sweet taste can inhibit full effect of ketosis if your body "expects" simple sugars from the taste. I.e. diet soda, dark chocolate, low-carb ice cream (even if they meet your carb limit, avoid at first).
Snacks, in case of "hunger" (oddly, on keto I never get stomach rumbles; these are your body saying "feed me easy sugars"... instead, hunger presents as a general lack of energy) - almonds, celery & dip, pork rinds.
I don't know much about intermittent fasting. But I went on keto 3 years ago, lost 15 lbs back to my normal weight, and stayed on it for the other benefits.
Awesome, thanks!
