I realize this person has been banned for spamming. Which is why I couldn't make my reply I wanted to.
However, I don't feel that the down vote button should be used for those that "attack" us (sticks and stones).
There were times that they were not spamming but simply making gay ass comments or posts. Which were down voted big time.
I don't think someone should have that happen just for going again the group think (yes I understand they did spam).
No I am not an alt of theirs (which I'm sure the admins could easily verify). I am simply someone who tries to keep a level head in the game. Yes I will engage the trolls. Just because they are a faggot doesn't mean they need to be down voted. I thought made that pretty clear.
Tldr: Do not use the down vote buttone as a "I disagree with you/you're a faggot" button. I think we should engage those that we do not agree with. Find common ground. Back your side up with hard facts. If we can not do that than we are just another echo chamber which I thought Poal was better than that.

While your comment applies to rational people wanting to have a discussion, these people has no desire to do that. This person has no desire to engage in any of that. Their only motivation is a desperate need for attention and to disrupt. They don't want to debate whether the admins are sexual deviants, they want to portray themselves as deluded, cutting edge activists of "free speech". They lack any idea of the legal and moral idea of what that entails. You are playing into their folly.
Ok I'll bite. I agree the downvote button is not a disagree button. If the down vote is not to be used for obvious spam, unrelated comments or topics from someone who has contributed nothing to the site, when is the down vote to be used in your opinion?
Personally I think we should do away with both up and down buttons. Maybe have posts "rated" on views. And comments don't need a rating at all. To me it just seems to encourage group think.
Yeah I suggested removing downvotes as well, but then someone else suggested people will just manipulate upvotes. I still think my idea could work which was replace downvote with a spam button. Clicking spam button puts it in admin/super mod queue for review and possible deletion. Super mod is equivalent of janitor on voat -- just hate the name janitor for such an important position.
