Do you go? Have you ever served?
The cross section of people who actually show up for a jury selection is quite interesting.
It seems to me they are relying at least in my county on a couple hundred of the same people out of maybe 100k to actually fill juror's seats.
Anyone gotten busted for never going? Do you think it's a good system? Personally I get summons every year and always report, always claim hardship and always get dismissed.

It's a civic duty and one we should all do with a semi-greatful attitude. The system is far from perfect, but compared to what the alternatives are and what it could be, we all are given a great opportunity for justice that many people on this globe will never come close to seeing.

It pissed me off when I went into a typical leftist faggitor's profile and among countless comments criticizing the U.S. (wah like we should take all your money to gib me free housing but not like those backwards Yahweh-fearing rednecks in flyover Utah) he started a thread asking his fellow scum how to get out of jury duty. So he attacks his home country but wants to do nothing to earn his upkeep lol

I served once. The assholes elected me foreman when I was taking a piss.

You should go. It's fun to see how the system works from the inside. Lots of times you're sent home without having to sit on a jury. You're still considered as having served jury duty if you don't sit on a case. Once you've served it's years until you get summoned again.

I actually got called in every year for the first 5 years I was eligible, and got interviewed in the box each time. They just can't call you in for 1 year after. Whether you actually get called in is up to luck.

Wow, where I live it's several years between summonses. I suppose the frequency has to do with the population (the less people, the more often they're called).

Sitting around is what happened to me for three day. It was like study hall for adults.

I wasn't called for anything.

Honestly it wasn't a bad experience. Luckily I was able to bring work with me on my laptop so I didn't fall too far behind. It is an inconvenience. Sure your company may still pay you, as mine did, but it isn't like your work load goes away.

I've only been called once. I showed up but got to the court room but got dismissed before so even had to sit in the box. I'd go agian if I got called just because it's our duty as Americans.

Serve as a jury member, you can keep someone bad off the streets, or, if the charges are bullshit, you teach your fellow jurors about jury nullification and protect civil liberties and rights.

Its just a pain in the ass really. I moved out of state and then got notices( didnt change my DL) Moved back to the state and nothing ever came of it. Do you show up and then get dismissed? I did it over the phone once, last time I just sat in the back with my kindle and bound for glory shirt.

Yea every year I drive to the county seat and sit in the same room full of people I saw the last time, they play the same 2 videos. Then you fill out a form and wait for an hour, sometimes two.
This last time the judge came in wearing official robes and read the forms personally.
Usually there's free coffee but not always.
Most trials I've been summoned formwere expected last 7 - 10 days, which is why I claim hardship. I would probably be fine with a 2-3 day trial

This is why you are never selected goy. As the original poster stated above, the same 200 or so people are frequently selected in each county because they adhere to system. Even if you were selected, and managed to feign NPC long enough to slip past the close scrutiny of the prosecuting attorneys and judges. You would never be called back having cast a vote that conflicts with the pre-determined outcome. shmaltzy shmendrik

If they threaten you with some kind of penalty for not showing up, you are the direct victim of a crime. Otherwise you should be happy to contribute to justice and/or fuck the system. But I get the impression only NPC's with no comprehension of justice get selected anyway.
