It was stupid for 8ch to use cloudflare to begin with. CF has already been in trouble for shutting down service to site they don't like.

HW was actually trying to improve code, things were moving very fast, so I guess he figured he'd just pay CF to make the problem go away as a temporary stopgap measure. Unfortunately the site then passed on to Jim and he never cared to change it.
