Well, that dog didn't listen or obey either, but I didn't know how to train it and my parents didn't care to.
Why can't you have another dog? Shouldn't you have one of your own? Unless you're not home much of course.
I'm not home that much, it is true. And when I am here, one of the cats is very loyal to me, so at least I have her. I swear, I'd just stay on the boat and drink myself to death if it weren't for this cat sometimes.
Don't tell anyone, though, that makes me sound like a crazy person.
Also, most of the times everything is much better here, but tonight I am just disgusted with both the missus and my mother in law; they're being obnoxious for some reason. I AM ALLOWED TO BE EMO!! IT'S THE WEEKEND or something. I guess I just need a honky tonk song, a cold cold beer, a hardwood floor, and a smokey atmosphere. Or something.
I prefer cats to dogs any day of the week when it comes to companionship.
Dogs to cats when it comes to usefulness. Dogs are awesome for guarding and working. Cats, not so much. My dogs keep our critters safe and I know if anyone who doesn't belong comes into the house there's going to be quite the alarm to allow me time to prepare. Before we got our dogs I had a very hard time sleeping at night because I would wake over every sound, hold my breath to assess the noise, relax when I figured it out, then hope I would be able to go back to sleep after the thudding of my heart quit.
Sorry your wife and MIL are torturing you. I don't see anything wrong with heading out to the boat for beers if they're acting like that. Gotta hold them accountable ya know.
Spot on, on all points!
Man, before we got this not entirely useless dog, I did jump to the ready with my gun to clear the house of intruders a number of times just to find it was something stupid every time, thankfully. Her vigilance is appreciated in that application, at least... and she is a pretty sweet good natured beast; she's just SO DAMNED USELESS otherwise! The ladies went for a walk yesterday, as an example, so I put her leash on her to go catch up with them. Not even a block away she just sat down and REFUSED to go any further! I guess it's not her fault that she's not getting trained properly, but that just pisses me off because proper training seems important to me.
I might actually just go take the boat out by myself as I've been threatening to do tomorrow; my psyche probably needs it. I have noticed that I almost keep starting to take things seriously lately.
