Live way out in country, dog is a stray that just showed up. Man I can tell the difference in his barks. Like what he means. Just got the snake bark and killed a copperhead on the porch.

I can even see when he is smelling snakes in the woods, now we all know the biblical but why would a dog have a fear of snakes innately?

Yeah it can be instinctive, too, but I've seen domesticated animals not responsive to threatening wildlife until they experience an incident. Not really a city thing because snakes are in cities as well, but I guess I have lived a little bit in the city and in the country as well.
