This would be more interesting if you made a case for yourself and defended it logically instead of smearing shit all over the walls like you currently are. Votes aren't free speech even in the real world. Why should you have unlimited downvotes?

Because I have unlimited upvotes.
Also, because I am 100% against any form of 'censorship', and I feel that this violates it.
Furthermore, I am sick and tired of having my freedoms and choices limited because other people abuse them. I am not a 'brigading bot', nor do I have 'multiple accounts'.
And then... if all you want the downvote to be used for is 'spam', then just make a fucking spam button. Then remove ALL the voting options, or give unlimited up and downs...

I'm glad you brought this up because I personally view downvotes as censorship. Only psychopaths are unaffected by being rejected by the tribe. A downvote subconsciously trains people to fall into the same mode of thinking, which leads to hivemind gayness. One thing I like about poal is being able to go against the Approved Opinons™ without being dogpiled on by NPCs.
Of course you could argue that upvotes also encourage a "falling in line" but praise never leaves as much of a mark as pain does it?

This is actually a strong argument, drawing a parallel between what 2nd amendment defenders usually say against gun control. However, this is a privately owned site and you have no rights here. I know this is the same "go make your own" argument that twitter fags use but until real world laws change, that's just the way it is. You're at the mercy of the admin.

I like this one. Just have a spam counter and flag the post after reaching a limit. I've always thought the voting system was clunky and needed improvement but these sites are always basement projects run by a couple dudes in their free time so I guess nobody has had the time to come up with anything better. If a user's score is a reflection of their content contribution, why are others allowed to "rewrite history" by downvoting, reducing the total score, because they're in a bad mood? Kind of dumb. But this is an argument in favor of limiting downvotes so maybe you won't agree

You can say, and I am, the same thing about upvotes training people into the hivemind. Which goes into my first point which wasn't understood: having unlimited upvotes, which can have an unwarranted impact, should mean we have unlimited downvotes.

I never made claim to any 'rights' here. And we all know that completely faggot 'private site' argument.

Exactly my point. And, in this case just like I was accused of, I feel there is very little reason, if any at all, to limit one vote over the other outside of an emotional reason.

I'm a huge fan of calling a spade a spade. If you don't want people to downvote outside of your ToS, maybe it's time you changed it. Because obviously people get emotional on both sides of the debate. So, why not just Spade-It-Up™ and do away with votes, or just the downvote, and add in an obvious "Protect Poal" or "Spam" button?
