If stealing was the preferred/ideal/better behaviour, everyone would and should be doing it. There are places where that is the norm, these places are shitholes because why would anyone make a shop if they're just going to get stolen from? The more you steal, the more money they have to charge to cover costs. The less money they make, the less incentive for them to open new stores.
