I guess we're technically "devops" now, but I think that's dumb and gay. But it is what it is, and the corporate overlords think it's worth paring six figures for, so we do what we gotta do to pay for houses and boats and all that.
Before Solaris, I really thought that FreeBSD was what it was at; it's sad how FreeBSD has jumped the shark so hard.
I use ubuntu on all my client machines, just because my boss when I started this job nearly a decade ago "asked" me to... and I just got stuck on it. It's a decent dsktop environment though, and I've managed to make it do everything I want it to. I even played WoW on it for years, until I kicked that bad habit. But I digress, as I so frequently do.
Fuck that I refuse to be devops. MY servers are not cattle they are pets and it'll stay that way thank you very much.
I vary on desktop envs I use everything from ubuntu to windows to mac it just depends on what I need at the moment. Shit I've even used chrome os(shudder) because it was what I had access to and shit needed fixing.
Oh. Yeah, I have Apples, too, but I don't like to admit it.
I wanted to try the chromebook for a bit there, but my dev friends did it for me and their input dissuaded that silly idea. I only use Windows for Skype when the boss commands it.
I use winblows for games, and for mobaxterm I really like that app. Ubuntu on most things chrombook is what I carry on me because its the only thing that fits in the moped.
