Beginning: happy smiling family, mom constantly keeping kids clean, holds door open for others at every stop, buys merchandise to use the bathroom when a sign says so, chats up the cashier, buys a lottery ticket, asks strangers about their destinations, sings songs and plays road trip games

On the way home: overtired annoyed family, parents have been completely defeated by children, everyone is covered in food stains, mom has no more fucks to give, no more games everyone just shut up, here watch twelve hours of YouTube, glares at the men who give her dirty looks when she takes her toddlers to pee in the men's room because the women's line is too damn long, "oh you want me to buy something to piss here?" - as they walk out the door knocking over the newspaper stand ganster style and throw a lit match on the ground before peeling out of the parking lot.

It's called making memories! Everyone forgets the ride home, but they do tend to remember the good times had along the way.

So give yourself a big pat on the back for all the fond memories you've given all! And sometimes even the less than idyllic scenes are recalled fondly in the rear view mirror.

We are about to try this. Can confirm drive back will suck ass. I'll drive the entire trip their and back though, funky will tell me oh you should just sleep and I'll take over. I won't listen because thats just what I do, if you hadn't guessed yet I can be rather hard headed. It'll be worth it though because the memories we gain will be worth the effort, and the drive home will be forgotten in a few weeks.

That's exactly how we did on all our cross country drives. I just like driving and it was fun for me, and the wife liked sleeping, so it worked out - LOL. On rare occasion I'd let her drive a short spell, but it just never seemed right. I guess I'm just a control freak.

See the problem is she rides the clutch or the brake, keep your foot off the damn pedal women! She swears she doesn’t but I’ve watched and I’m telling you foot constantly on the pedal.
