I was the same there. But I'm locked out of my account. So much for transparency ... no ban, no shadow ban ... they just locked my account. For 'security reasons'. Voat lies about transparency.

There was a user long ago names Zook.

There was a thread, which can attest to, who worked with Atko back in the day. This user revealed that Voat had code, written out and used already and everything, to explicitly shadow ban users. The same user notes its been tested on spammers already and they know it works.

When this was brought up, Peaceseeker was right there to curb the dissent. He explains that it was in face never implemented, and falls back on an argument hinging on an appeal to Putt's authority.

Voat isn't transparent. It's not necessarily unsafe, but the place is a den of liars who very clearly get paid in some manner to produce content for the site (this is actually hinted at in the welcome page... Which peaceseeker was also quick to shut down any discussion about), shape opinions and defend Voat's authorities.

Would you care to weigh in on this, ? Maybe you could at least confirm for our friends who are reading?

No reason given. Just when I go to log in it comes up ... "Owlchemy - This account has been locked out for security reasons. Try again later". But later never comes ... same for my alt there.

I wonder how many other users they've blocked with no explanation and zero transparency.

StanTheTRex. Haven't posted or even up or downvoated since the ban was lifted and won't until PuttItOut follows through on his promise to "talk about it as a community" happens and real rules are posted. I'm not holding my breath. Still haven't marked his unban message as read.

I've pretty much stopped going to Voat lately.

You'll appreciate this. I have A LOT of free time at work, and I've been using it to write instead of reading bullshit on the internet. I've written almost 100,000 words in the last three weeks on three different projects. They're probably bullshit that won't amount to anything, but I'm advancing my skill and having a blast.

I have a terrible habit of not finishing anything. I literally have many dozens of unfinished stories, but I made a promise to another group to post something I intended as a short story that has expanded to novella to novel. I'm really trying to be a finisher. I'm not promising anything, but I would like to.

I feel like Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys sometimes, I don't know when to stop.
