They could fly in a straight line, but that would mean constant acceleration and altitude gain highly shortening their flight distance for the fuel they carry. Since they won't be going into space since there is no air for wing control surfaces it's just a waste of fuel. I suggest he hire his own plane and see when he runs out of fuel at 75kft and does a non controlled landing.
