I think I know a couple of pals who have died, but I don't know, right?

Unless they have a very serious illness they are upfront about, or tell you that they are going to kill themselves, you don't know if they are dead or not.

They just kind of stop posting.

And you just forget about them, until one day you wonder, how is that person doing?

So you look up their profile, and realize they haven't posted anything in a year and a half.

And their last post was about how they had just been sober from heroin for a year, and they had just turned 25.

And you just wonder, are the dead, or are they alive?

You'll never know.

Alternate theory: they finally unplugged from the matrix and are living happily ever after in the real world. It's kinda what I did; one day I just stopped posting on all social media and never went back. Voat and (now) poal are the last remnants of any web presence I have left.

Yeah, Poal is pretty good maintenance. I like socializing with people online. I noped out of mainstream social media after Myspace tanked.

I did have a group I used to roleplay with online. It was fun. I'm pretty sure most of them were older so when I left for a little while and couldn't find them it was probably due to having real responsibilities. I do like to think about them now and again.

All of your friends are dead.

We're all possibly dead to someone.

Or are them using it again? Or, more probably, they just abandoned that account and are using an alt.

Its why i just don't accept friend request anymore. Once they log off for the day, that account just keeps incrementing the number of days offline. highest i've gotten was 950+ days offline before i just said 'fuck it' and removed everyone.
