Days like today are the kind of days I don't like running a place like this. No matter what I do I'm wrong.(I'm not being sarcastic on that one) I know I'm going to be wrong and I know its going to upset people. Doing nothing has the same effect it will upset people too. Its a no win scenario. Makes for an extremely shitty day.

Dude, quit it. You provide a platform that is so open that this COULD happen. All your doing now is letting the users police themselves. You're doing fantastic. Don't be so negative

Well in spite of the fact I think you're in the wrong, the majority of users seem to support the decision. I guess that's why I've been harping on it all day. Not so much to yell at you, but to hopefully remind some people (many of them long-time users) that we're not snowflakes.

I'm gonna try to stop I guess because I'm bummed that you're bummed.

No harp away, I’m not above criticism at all. I’m bummed because I failed. I should have found a better solution. I guess in a way the new thing we are working one is that but it seems like it’s a solution that will create echo chambers.

Well, like you said, there may be some more details about this forthcoming. The nice thing about this is we'll probably see a needed new feature -- not too worried about the echo chamber aspect. The people who would put their heads in the sand were going to do that anyway, can't make them engage.

No society has ever had a set of rules that are fool proof.

There has always been someone who falls through the cracks, where they don't directly break any of the rules of said society yet they cause a large amount of problems. It has always fallen to someone to make an executive decision, that decision even if it was inaction has never managed to make everyone happy. No matter what you decided to do or not do about Hans you will have been criticized. That is the reality of being a 'leader' of anything that involves social interaction, be it an ancient village, a modern day nation, or a web forum.
