God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. The light was good, so he removed it from the darkness. But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
