I'm still waiting for the country to bury all the electrical system next to the road system. I the north it's a pain since you have to tighten the line in the spring and slack them in the fall. A lot of work and the trees and limbs next to all lines need to be constantly trimmed or cut down. Car hits a pole and powers out for a few hours. Bury the lines and the cost of burying them is offset by all the other stuff I mentioned before. It seems logical except in areas where the line cross a fault then just have them above in that small area. Hell all the poles they have to replace plus transformers directly exposed the weather like rain, ice, heat is likely shortening their lives. We had one in my old town explode because they missed replacing and old seal. The power was out in a decent sized area of town for 3 days because the utility worker was rushing.
