The ritual involved unraveling my soul to be rebuilt, using circumambulation, mantras, chants, blindfolds, and such...
I sorry sometimes that I owe my soul to satan.
just be glad you did not have to bribe the ferryman to cross the river styx to fish your soul out of Tartarus's many rivers before sundown. Thank Zeus mine was not in Cocytus, that ice is stubbornly hard to crack.
Most 'rebuilding' rituals are just confidence boosters. the average recruit into a cult is half broken if not shattered, and needs to feel whole to become productive in their new life. Rituals claim to do that, and broken people are very suggestible. Anything past that is to help finance the cult. Bills pile up for everyone, and those red lights add to the electric bill just like everything else. Those bee's wax candles add up if the display was anything above a dozen or more each service.
Basically, believe what feels right for you. If you find a church that shares some of those beliefs it might be worth attending a service.
As for me, i believe the pit of hell that satan rules over is just one pit of many in Tartarus, and the christains just pretend its the only pit worth mentioning. I like to play loose with religion, and craft my own stories on occasion. Binding greek myth with christ's take over IRL can create some fertile ground for storytelling.
