There are downloadable emergency utility linux images you can put on a flash drive. Can make one, boot with it, and prove your laptop wifi is still good.

If you don't have any data on it, its pretty easy and fast to reinstall Ubuntu.

Which model HP is it?

Microwave bursts in 3 15 second intervals will refocus the WiFi tuner . Your welcome

Thanks, put laptop in the microwave and I assume all the sparkling means it is recharging wifi waves.

Leave it in there for at least five minutes, that way you end up with five bars of WIFI energy!

If you're not good then I'd just reinstall it. Takes just a half hour or so and it's all be good as new. Hell they just came out with a new xubuntu you should put that on instead. It'll likely run faster also. xfce is a great desktop environment.

everyone has their own favorite flavor of linux, lets not scare the guy with flavors he knows nothing about. a fresh install for what he is familiar with is simple enough.

Rub banana on the keyboard to refocus the WIFI signal, and all should be good.

I only have oranges

You will have to just use thin orange slices then. Is just more work.

My method for dealing with linux issues: pull files off hard drive, then reinstall OS

[–] 2 pts

Honestly? That's weak as shit. That's some windows bullshit right there.

if its over your head, that is the dead simple solution to get a working laptop asap, so long as its not a hardware issue, that opens up a can of worms if a part fails and borks your system. if your lucky its just a dead ram stick you need to pull.

You make a compelling case, Sir.

Yeah maybe in a professional setting sure. But I'm not wasting my time trying to figure out what the problem is when I can just nuke it and start over in the span of about half an hour. Don't care

Stick to writing poetry?

My HP got repurposed as a reactive target. What a horrible laptop. I say shoot it and get a new better one that's not HP.

If you can boot to the grub menu wifi is tied to the kernel so by booting to an older one then updating it will likely fix it.

I got drunk and had all my files backed up so I just reinstalled
