I guess being one is worse but still probally should not say it out loud especially on mother's day when it's directed at her mom. I'm sure you could have found other words to use that would habe expressed your anger that may not have been so upsetting.

I have since apologized to my wife for my language but let her know I still feel the same about her mom and that this will not just blow over
