Political thoughts:

Even if spygate plays out completely the way a lot of conservatives want it to go in their wildest dreams (eg: Barr finds there WAS spying, years of counter investigations can't disprove it, there is a long, very long, criminal trial, everyone involved is found guilty, a jury sentences those involved to capital punishment of the death penalty --long shot)...even then, it would be YEARS, DECADES before we would see an actual execution. By the time it would happen I don't know if it would even be much of a news cycle. It would read as some politicians from a couple decades ago who did some bad stuff was served justice. I do know if it would be as satisfying, because the world would probably move on (except us - we will be in the nursing homes watching this). I imagine it kind of like what Watergate was to me. I didn't care about it, I didn't understand it as a kid. If it came up in news cycles I just dismissed it as "that one controversy that happened when my parents where in highschool". It will be anticlimactic I think because the coveted advertising demographic of that time just won't care. It won't be some huge event, it will be a back page news story.

Justice moves slow, it almost has too because it needs to be proved correct. People's attention spans just don't span decades it takes to prove some things. So in the end your probably right, but I'd much rather justice happen eventually rather than not at all.
