It's for one simple reason. They're running out of ideas. The market is so oversaturated and we're now at the point where phones can do far beyond what the average user would ever need to do. They're trying to figure out new ways to get people to crank out $1,000 on a phone worth $500 tops with technology they will never notice and gimmicks they'll never use.
