That could be because you're approaching it from a moral framework rather than pragmatism. If that's it, there's nothing I can do to help with that.
Also my wording may have been a little careless. Some would say murder can't be legal, so by legalizing it we would make it not murder by definition. But I wanted to highlight the immorality of it, because I believe we should discourage and shame the act even while allowing it. This would create the best outcomes.

If it's a human you pragmatically shouldn't allow the killing of it without its permission. Else what's to stop someone (the govt) from deeming you unworthy of life later down the road?
