Every time I travel to the third world I am reminded just how much privilege Americans enjoy. Everywhere I go there will be someone who speaks decent English. Everyone is happy to take my dollars. Everything is super inexpensive. The entire world bands over backwards to accommodate me. I will watch some tourists from France or Germany struggle to communicate and I just walk up and talk to the same person with a fairly safe assumption that we can stumble through the language barrier.

For now at least, America is the center of the world. Never forget that.

If you're talking about vacation things like food, juices from local fruits, hotels and tours, I would agree. But electronics and booze are generally more expensive than in America, I guess. Third world countries have a love relationship with taxes, and items seem as luxury generally are taxed as fuck, and retailers also profit as fuck on them.

About American being the center of the world, yep. And if you go to other countries and behave nicely (I mean without a superiority posture), there's a good chance that people will treat you very nicely, because they want you to like their country. I once saw an American guy being ignored in a hostel because he behaved like a mashta giving orders to his slaves. The guy behind the counter pretended to not understand him, and he just left. Then the counter guy (the owner, btw) laughed and said something like "fuck the gringo, he can't treat me like trash". The place was totally crappy, but the attitude of the murican dude was really over the top.

I disagree. I will use cell phones as an example. I have family in the current third world location I am in. I am down here every couple of years to visit. I upgrade my phone when I come down here. My cell carrier allows me to bring my own device and down here I can get models from all the major brands that are not available in the US... (Except iPhones... Fuck crapple) literally just bought a Motorola phone for $128 American that is just as good as current American models. (8 core snapdragon CPU, 32GB storage, 4GB mem, all the features you want, really fast and snappy)

Americans pay too much for everything.

Yeah. Just don't be a dick and and they will be happy. That is no different than anywhere else. Treat them like you would treat people in the US and they will treat you like visiting nobility.

See in the US many times you can treat people like dog shit and corporate will still side with you....

LOL. "Corporate" does not really exist here. Everything is mom and pop. Yeah, there is a Walmart here but the only people who shop there are stupid ex-pat gringos and rich Mexicans who want to appear American

I disagree. I will use cell phones as an example.

Well, maybe I'm wrong on that. I'm judging by my own experience (Brazil, Argentina and Chile). Chile was a bit more cheap, but not as much as America. Argentina and Brazil, very expensive. I'm talking about electronics in general. I don't know about Mexico. In Brazil, a MotoG 6 play (16gb, octa, 3gb ram) costs 250 American dollars.

That's because a MotoG 6 Play is not an "international" model. You have to find the models they do not sell in the states and compare stats.
