We use the spherical Earth model because it WORKS. When we want to build a star chart that shows the position of the stars for any time and location, we use the spherical Earth model. It WORKS. We don't need to invent 4 rotating spheres that don't predict anything. When we want to prediction solar eclipses down to the minute across the USA, we use a spherical model of the Earth because it WORKS. No flattard can do this. We can explain why the sun dips below the horizon without resorting to bullshit arguments that ignore the halo, or make deceitful analogies about hills. The seasons, satellites, navigation, the stars over head -- they are all straightforward outcomes of a spherical Earth.
