In Japan and many other traditional cultures the wife handles the money without disobeying the husband. (much) Many's the salaryman who gets an allowance for his lunch. Of course he could demand it be higher but he's wise enough to let (and trust) his wife to give him what he needs and save what can be saved. Go back in history and women increasingly handled resources at home/ at the camp/ at the wagon. Men fought, hunted, risked their lives, and did the hard labor and in return were honored and obeyed. Women got the easy work like resource management, light labor, childcare, making sure everyone got a share, and making their men happy. In return they were protected and the moral center of the group. A man should be the head of the family, but the wife is the neck.
