Of all the ridiculously stupid conspiracy theories on this site, this one is THE most realistic and believable. Especially when coupled with comment about S230.

The gutting of S230 will do just that, solidify existing monopoly positions.

IMO, ZH glows pretty hard. Unsure about Epoch Times.

ZH glows only because it is clearly pro-Russia. Probably backed in some way. But read it with that in mind, and ignore the slant, you can get a lot of value out of it IMO.

Rumor on Epoch is that it is Falun Gong although I haven't really seen any evidence of that other than an anti-Chicom slant that lots of alternate media have these days.

Epoch will tell you that they started out as reporting news because of what was happening to the Falun Gong.
