They don't need to prove anything. They just need to arrest them and release them within the statutory holding limit and they remain completely within both their right and their mandate. In fact, they use this process all the fucking time on normal Americans.

No, they don't. That's the whole point of releasing them within the statutory holding limit. Further, if any of the detainees appear distressed in anyway, the arresting agent can request a doctor involuntarily commit that individual for an additional 24 hours for suicidal observation. Wouldn't want any of the shamed congressmen hurting themselves, after all. If any of them attack the officers, they would need to be held longer for assaulting a federal officer or disturbing the peace. If any of them lie (A politician lie, shocker I know), they can be held longer still for lying to a federal officer. They really should have changed that law after the FBI abuses against General Flynn...
Whenever anyone is arrested you need to have probable cause, or you open yourself up to a lawsuit. You really want a "leftists" to have this unlimited detention power?
