No, they don't. That's the whole point of releasing them within the statutory holding limit. Further, if any of the detainees appear distressed in anyway, the arresting agent can request a doctor involuntarily commit that individual for an additional 24 hours for suicidal observation. Wouldn't want any of the shamed congressmen hurting themselves, after all. If any of them attack the officers, they would need to be held longer for assaulting a federal officer or disturbing the peace. If any of them lie (A politician lie, shocker I know), they can be held longer still for lying to a federal officer. They really should have changed that law after the FBI abuses against General Flynn...
Whenever anyone is arrested you need to have probable cause, or you open yourself up to a lawsuit. You really want a "leftists" to have this unlimited detention power?

They already have this power and procedure. They use it ALL THE TIME. The only difference this time is the people the power and procedure is being used against. If they don't like it, then the respected Congressxirs should have thought better of creating the laws that let the USSS do this.
