the ban on plastic straws is to prevent sea turtles and other ocean animals from being injured. plastic straws get stuck in sea turtles' noses. the ban isn't as much about reducing plastic pollution.
a lot of garbage, hazardous material, etc. from homeless people's tent cities probably goes in the ocean. but CA's communist "politicians" won't ban tent cities. they encourage tent cities, while imposing high taxes on private property.
