Yeah I don't get it. Everyone knows Jesus was jewish. Or is this a sect that believes he isn't? Or is he saying he's a "real" jew and those that call themselves jews are not?
It can be argued, and has been for a while, that Jesus was an Israelite (Hebrew) and not a Jew. While I'm no Biblical scholar, it sounds like a legitimate argument; especially given that Jesus was Galilean and not Judean.

Second, was Jesus a Jew by ancestry? Jews were not Israelites as they were not descended from Jacob. They were descended from Esau, the brother of Jacob. Esau’s descendants were called Edomites, and later they were called Jews since many of them were then living in Judea because the Edomites had been captured by John Hyrcanus and forced to convert to the religion then in place in Judea.

jesus was not jewish, but he was hebrew. semites are everyone descended from shem: hebrews, assyrians, babalonyians and persians. eber was shem's son, all hebrews are descended from eber. abraham is eber's son. isreal is abraham's grandson. judah and joseph were isreals sons. jews are descended from judah. judah was an evil villian who betrayed his brother joseph so he was rejected by isreal. joseph's sons were adopted by israel their descendant's were the isrealites and they are the only ones with the claim of being the chosen people. the kingdom of israel is was the northern part of modern isreal, the kingdom of judea was the southern part of modern isreal.
the isrealites, known for their fair hair were conquered a while later and most of them fled to their trade posts in europe and north africa where they integrated with the populations and spread their faith - christianity. the judeans, who rejected christianity and, as such, are cursed by god are now known as jews.
