That's because Algorithms and AI scanning was deployed on social media. Shadowbanning, deletion, and deplatforming really has affected the spread of information and memes.
Youtube killed all of the funny Trump videos. Even if you search for them specifically you'll get 50 top results of MSM News channels. I remember when Trump said "because you'd be in jail" and you could search that on Youtube and you'd get hundreds and hundreds of memes, remixes, parodies, and funny edits as the top result. They fixed it now so that you'd have to do some serious boolean operations to find anything if at all.
Twitter killed all the NPC memes and anything else against their narrative.
Facebook shadowbanned and kept people's posts from reaching a wide audience.
This is likely how it actually happened.
