No social distancing. No masks. No fucks given.

We don’t really do Covid here, but we did Chsitmas and New Years just fine. There was ice skating rinks, funnel cakes, fireworks, trolley rides, games, rooftop Santa, turkey legs, fire pits, a live band, shopping, and fireworks. So many people. The entire down town was packed out and standing room only every night. It’s been a nightly thing for the entire last month.

And you know what? Fucking hell we are taking in the money. We haven’t lost a single storefront during Covid. You see, the state line is just an hour away. Across that imaginary line it’s like East Germany. Our cops directed traffic this weekend while their cops played plague Karen. So their people come to our town instead of quartering their public officials.

Why?

You do realize that the majority of this country isn't dealing with covid lock downs...right? I mean, I need you to get that. I need you really to understand that because it's fundemental. What you consume daily is a distilled fear porn filtered through 90 filters, but it's still fear porn on tap. Out here in the 'one walmart' towns that comprise the majority of this county's landmass, we just do what we've always done. Nobody has the time for any of this bullshit.

We did try a two week lockdown. The mayor got sick of the non-stop pure shit show that became his daily life. Anyway, I was working with an electrician when it came down. I asked him how the lockdown affected him. He said, he'd watched and read what was said and nobody mentioned his name so then he reckons it don't affect him. That's freedom. Freemen don't ask permission to live. You need to find your balls.

I'd like to see you visit a city like mine and do your tough guy routine. Try being chased and harassed by a mob of nuts yelling at you and having the cops called on you for trying to buy groceries without a mask.

Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia are pretty conservative states, and they are fucking insane in the cities and in the sticks both. If know of states that aren't insane, please tell me so I can move there.

I need you to really get this. Like really get this. There are very large potions of this country that aren’t having to live like you do. Covid lock downs aren’t really a thing outside major cities. They just aren’t. I’ve spent time in rural PA. I question how your define of the sticks.

I know you’re invested in this by your tone but it’s just not true. Even the msm publish article after article lambasting entire states that are not locked down. They act the same way as you. Righteous indignation against the free people somehow justifies your suffering. It doesn’t and it won’t.

I can’t fight this fight for you. My town had a New Year’s Eve rock concert. We had a Christmas village. I had thanksgiving with my family. I shot fireworks. We shop without mask if we choose to. None of the business in my town have closed this year but a payday lender and a forever21. We won our fight because we actually tried.

Nah, very little in the south is locked down outside liberal shithole cities. The state health department will come around and whine from time to time. The mayor tells them to fuck off. The Walmart has a mandatory mask sign up that only seems to apply to their employees. If it’s not a chain shop, nobody even pretends anymore. Im not even sure if our city cops own masks at this point, but there are still a lot of normal people who sport them in crowds. The hospital is no more busy this year then last year for flu.

This is true, but I've been around. Segregation seems more...I don't know. Real here? More self selecting. However it comes with a respect that to stranger often afford each other. They stay in their lane and we stay in our. When you cross the unfamiliarity tends to put each of you on better behavior. It's not universal now. This is just in rural small town south. The cities are still shit holes, but there seems to be slightly more of a truce because out here you can still get your ass beat and no DA is gonna do anything about it when you had it coming.

rooftop Santa

Did you have in-person Santa? That seems to be the true proof of free-vs-cuck states.

In my area, we had to use trick photography to do pictures with Santa, it was like the Lord of the Rings behind the scenes bits where you see how Gandalf's wagon is constructed so that he and the hobbit look like they're next to each other when they're really many feet apart.

And, of course, there was the national embarrassment of Bass Pro Shop/Cabela's putting Santa behind a pane of glass and having kids touch their hand to Santa's through the glass, like he were dying of radiation poisoning a la Spock.

Reminds me of the "compassion" argument for the border wall with Mexico: so long as people can escape from a schiffhole, they will, but if they cannot then they will reform it. Your state needs a big beautiful wall.

Lol, one of my coworkers was Santa but it was a shift gig. This has been a month long Christmas village like event. So they do a nightly show. Get the photos taken and then around 8 they stop the music and do a little play up on the roof so that people in the square can see it. My neighbor was in charge of gathering enough teenagers to cover the nightly nativity scene. It’s been a good year for this event. It was still pretty new but all the outside money coming has made sure it’ll happen next year. Not as much direct revenue for the city but sale tax revenues were great.
