Prices never went back to pre-Obama levels, but I never looked to see how that tracked with inflation.
I remember people talking about how they used to buy .22 for $0.02/round pre-obama and how it was never coming back. I've bought .22 for $0.03 all day, and saw it as low as2.3c/round (if you wanted an armory's worth of .22, which I didn't)
All companies want all their prices to go up, and yet they mostly don't without some external factor.
But seriously, I can't plink at $0.90/rnd.
$60 140 round South African battle packs of 7.62 NATO is what I miss. It was dirty as hell but shot great. I also miss the $7 50 round boxes of .45 ACP. I also picked up tons of the spam cans of 8mm mauser for like $60 back around 2008 or so.
.45 ACP.
Oh, I know that round, my grandfather loved it too! I tried to buy some for him, but they asked for my ID and wouldn't sell it to me because, apparently, you have to be older than 50 to buy it. ;-)
I hadn't looked at .22 in a while since I did buy an armory's worth under Obama. Jesus Christ, 17 cpr plus for .22. Fuck me. Anyone who is just now trying to stock up is going to have a rough go.
I used to buy 20 of the $1.50 50 round packs a week when I went on my ammo runs every Friday.
I know, it's crazy. Used to pay close to that for 9mm.
